Der Spiegel: Passport of Michael Bodenheimer not fake, as previously claimed.

BERLIN - Der Spiegel reported on Saturday that the passport of German citizen Michael Bodenheimer used in the killing of Hamas operative Mahmoud al-Mabhouh is authentic.An Israeli with the name Michael Bodenheimer applied for a passport in Cologne, and was issued a German passport in 2009, the newsweekly wrote.According to Der Spiegel, Bodenheimer supplied the authorities with the his parents’ marriage certificate, an Israeli passport from 2008, and documents showing that he came from a German Jewish family.Germany’s Federal Constitution permits German Jews and theirdescendants who fled or survived the Holocaust to receive Germancitizenship. Der Spiegelwrote that Bodenheimer secured his German passport in June, 2009 andapparently traveled to Dubai with it on January 19, 2010. The publicprosecutor in Cologne is investigating the possible misuse of a Germanpassport.A Michael Bodenheimer lived in Herzliya until last June, the magazine wrote.
