Big Apple Pizza produced a thrilling display in a 4-1 victory over Derech in week 7 of the Jerusalem soccer league over the weekend. It was Derech's first defeat of the season.
Big Apple's Tali Nevis was superb in defense, while creating chances for Josh Caplin to score two and David Kimche one. League legend Ben Kon also scored.
DP Sha'arei showed character and determination, scoring two in the final minute to beat Sha'alvim 3-2. Amichai Goldberg and Didi Vaknin were Sha'arei's heroes, both with impressive strikes.
Bina Boyz continued its recent run of good form with an exciting 6-4 win over Egert & Cohen. The Boyz looked to be on course for defeat after Yossi Saunders, Yehuda Macmall and Avi Rubner gave Egert the lead, but Edgar Brodkin inspired an outstanding comeback, scoring three. Albert Bengira booted two and Yoni Haimoff one.
Cafe Rimon was dominant throughout their 8-0 rout of Ohr David. Good passing rhythm enabled Chananya Matzner to grab a hat-trick, Rafi Gutfreund two, and Yossi Rottenberg and Chaim San one each.
Shlomo Shapiro was man of-the-match in Heimishe Essen's entertaining 2-2 draw with the Bugs. Kfir On and Eyal Meor had put the Bugs ahead, but Shapiro settled the tie with a fine goal with the last kick of the game.
