Alice Shlesinger will hope to follow in the footsteps of Gal Yekutiel on Tuesday when she competes in the women's under-63 kilogram judo competition.
The 20-year-old, who claimed the bronze medal at this year's European Championships, will aim to spring a surprise and - just like Yekutiel - come as close as possible to winning an Olympic medal.
Shlesinger received a first round bye, but will have to be at her very best right from the start of the day. In the second round she will face the winner of the fight between European champion Lucie Decosse and her runner-up Urska Zolnir.
In the pool, Tom Be'eri will be looking to build on his performance in the 100m breaststroke earlier this week with another Israeli record in the 200m race. Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or will also compete for a third straight day, this time in the 100m freestyle heats.
Nofar Edelman will begin the women's Laser Radial competition, with Israel's six other representatives in the windsurfing and 470 events to contest their third and fourth races on Tuesday.
In tennis, Shahar Pe'er will face Verz Zvonareva in the second round of the singles tournament and will team up with Tzipi Obziler for the first round doubles match against Gisela Dulko and Betina Jozami.
Obziler will also have to finish her rain-delayed match from last night against Mariya Koryttseva, with the Israeli losing 5-3 in the first set. The rain also saved Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich will also complete their contest from Monday. The Israeli doubles team are trailing 4-6, 4-5 to Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra in the first round.
