Ido Avron retained the boys Under-19 title at the Israel Junior Open Squash Championships, defeating Guy Rotraff of Kfar Maccabiah in the final at the Raanana Municipal Squash Center. Avron has now been Israel‚ top junior for four consecutive years.
Rotraff also participated in the Under-17 category, which he won by defeating Orr Pridan of Tel Aviv University in the final.
Daniel Poleshchuk, who is only 11 years-old, played in the Under-15 and under Under-17 categories, winning the former by defeating Stav Cohen-Adiv in the final, and coming fifth in the latter.
The boys Under-13 title was won by Avichai Bar-Mucha, who defeated Roee Avraham in the final. The boys Under 11 title was won by Nadav Raziel who beat Ori Kafri.
The girls Open title was won by Cohen-Adiv who defeated Gal Zimerman.
Stan Tannen, Chairman of the Junior Committee of the Israel Squash Rackets Association, presented a special plaque to the representative of the Cyprus Squash Association thanking him for his cooperation in bringing from Cyprus 10 boys and five girls to participate in the championships.
Trophies for the first three places in each category were presented by the Mayor of Raanana, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Cypriot Embassy, the representative of Visuality, who sponsored the tournament, and Steven Kantor, Chairman of the Israel Squash Rackets Association.
A special trophy was awarded to Stav Cohen-Adiv for being the most improved junior player of the year.
