Swimming: Alon Mandel shatters Israeli record in 200 fly

After shattering the Israeli record in the 200 fly in Beijing on Monday, Israeli swimmer Alon Mandel on Thursday repeated his performance in the 100 meter competition, cutting 62 hundredths of a second from the old record and stopping the clock at 52.99 seconds. Despite the fantastic record, Mandel did not make it through to the semifinals. Mandel had decided to compete despite his father's tragic death last week.
