Yevgeniya Zabolotniy improved on her own national hammer-throw record and became the first Israeli to break the 50-meter barrier on Saturday at Hadar Yosef Stadium in Tel Aviv.
Just a week and a half before the Israeli track & field championships, Zabolotniy recorded a 50.20-meter effort - an improvement of 33 centimeters over her previous record set last month.
The Maccabi Championships that she was competing in were to be her final competition before the national championships on July 11-12 at Hadar Yosef.
Since Zabolotniy first took the record from Tzila Asher (46.83m) in February, she has improved upon her own mark five times.
