The International March of the Living brings together university leaders to combat antisemitism, educate on Holocaust history, and honor its survivors.

Mendi, torn between protecting his own family and his aging father, found himself in a harrowing position on October 7.

The program is committed to providing holocaust survivors with food every week for the rest of their lives. Additionally, it enables survivors to engage in various social and practical services. 

Of the 52, four made aliyah since October 7 despite the country being launched into war against Hamas.

Holocaust survivors participating include Smil Bercu Sacagiu, 87, whose home was hit by a rocket from Gaza, Jacqueline Gliksman, 81, whose home was torched by a Palestinian infiltrators, and others.

Thinking about those who are currently hostages takes the survivors back to the camps, the hiding places, and the persecution they endured as children.

It’s easily noticeable that so many of the doctors and nurses I work with at Hadassah Medical Organization are the sons and daughters of Holocaust survivors.

Yom Hashoah, Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, gains added significance amidst the Israel-Hamas war, commemorating the October 7 attack as "a sample of the Holocaust."
