President Reuven Rivlin has written to US President Barack Obama to express Israel’s appreciation for American support. Rivlin read the letter out loud to a small delegation of the Hadassah Board of Directors headed by Marcie Natan, the national president of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America.
In the letter, he expresses thanks to Obama and the entire American administration, especially Secretary of State John Kerry for his attempts to prevent further bloodshed in the region.
He told the Hadassah delegation that the US is not only a strategic partner for Israel, but a true friend.
“The relationship is unshakable” he said, and Israel highly appreciates America’s support in the realm of security.
Rivlin voiced appreciation for the support of Hadassah and Diaspora Jewry.
Alluding to recent reports of tensions between the Israeli and American leadership, he said: “Sometimes we have differences of opinion with friends – and we know that the people of America are our friends.”
