IAF jets struck one tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip and two in the south overnight Thursday in an operation coordinated with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), the IDF Spokesperson said in a statement released Friday. The tunnels, which were located near the security fence surrounding Gaza, were intended to transport terrorists into Israel and enable them to carry out planned attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, the statement further noted. No Palestinians were hurt in the attacks. The strike came in response to a Kassam rocket fired from northern Gaza late Thursday, which landed near Ashkelon, causing no damage - the first in ten days of quiet.
