Rabbi Avraham Lipschitz to head religious studies department of Education Ministry, on recommendation of Education Minister Sa’ar.

The Knesset on Sunday unanimously approved the appointment of Rabbi Avraham Lipschitz to head the religious studies department of the Education Ministry, on the recommendation of Education Minister Gideon Sa’ar (Likud). Lipschitz “will bring this important system to success and prosperity to the benefit of the entire country,” Sa’ar said following the vote.The vote follows a unanimous vote three weeks ago by the committee to identify social service leaders to nominate Lipschitz for the post. He has been headmaster of the Ulpanat ORT girls religious school in Tiberias for 28 years and from 1989 to 1991 was head of the Bnei Akiva yeshiva system. Lipschitz’s accomplishments have won him commendations from the religious studies department of the Education Ministry. He is currently finishing work at the Hebrew University on a doctorate covering the teaching of Talmudic literature in state schools in Israel.
