There’s one terrorist who will be welcomed with open arms when he arrives at Ben-Gurion Airport in May. YouTube sensation Achmed the Dead Terrorist will join his wooden mates, Walter, the grumpy retiree; the beer-swilling, NASCAR-loving and resolutely redneck Bubba J; the furry and manic Peanut; and José Jalapeño, the spicy pepper from South of the border, when master American ventriloquist Jeff Dunham brings them to life onstage on May 6 at the Tel Aviv Opera House.Dunham, named by Time Magazine “the most popular comedian in the United States,” has sold over seven million DVDs and his video clips have passed a half a billion views on YouTube. Since his first Comedy Central special in 2006, Dunham has been credited with revitalizing the craft of ventriloquism with his admittedly “politically incorrect, gratuitously insulting and ill tempered” characters. His specials like Controlled Chaos and more recently, Minding the Monsters, have been among Comedy Central’s top-rated programs, and Dunham has become a worldwide concert attraction. Dunham’s current show, which will include a Tel Aviv stop, is called Disorderly Conduct. Dunham’s first animated film Achmed Saves America premieres next month.
