Democratic U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, seeking re-election in Florida, on Wednesday said the race against his Republican challenger Rick Scott was headed toward a recount. In a statement, Nelson said the results so far were close enough to require a recount by law and that further steps were needed to recheck vote tallies before proceeding, adding: 'We are proceeding to a recount.' Fox News had projected that Scott, the state's current governor, would win the race.
