Eyal Pasko appointed new commander of IDF Military Headquarters

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Col. Gadi Eizenkot decided on Monday to appoint Lt.-Col. Eyal Pasko as commander of the IDF's Military Headquarters Kirya base in Tel Aviv. With his appointment, Pasko will be promoted to the rank of Colonel.Pasko was appointed following the resignation of the base's former commander Col.Yigal Ben Ami on suspicions of corruption.The military would not elaborate on the nature of his suspected crimes. But according to Hebrew media reports, the suspicions relate to bribes tied to construction on the base, as well as exceeding his authority and inappropriate behavior.As a result of the ongoing investigation, Ben Ami was put on leave and asked to advance the date of his retirement from the IDF which was accepted, the statement said. The military court imposed a gag order on the case.
