Hayut: Israel cannot keep refugees waiting endlessly

A coalition of human rights groups called on the government to process standing requests by refugees from Sudan during a Monday Supreme Court session.
Saying that these refugees "have lived in Israel without any [legal] status for over a decade" the groups said that "the Ministry of the Interior is not fulfilling its duty and has still not made final decisions about their requests for asylum."
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Esther Hayut said that it is "impossible to keep on waiting endlessly," and ordered the state to provide the court with a timeline for when the standing requests be answered.
