While 41 countries are battling it out for this year’s title, three Eurovision Song Contest champions will be appearing at a free concert on the Tel Aviv boardwalk for devoted fans.On May 16, the evening of the second semi-final of the Eurovision, Anne-Marie David, Loreen and Carola Häggkvist will perform in Tel Aviv. Between them, the three singers have won three Eurovisions and appeared at the international song contest six times.Loreen won the Eurovision for Sweden in 2012 with the song “Euphoria.” Carola appeared at the Eurovision representing Sweden a whopping three times: 1983, when she came in third; 1991, when she won with “Fångad av en Stormvind”; and 2006, when she finished in fifth place.And David won the competition for Luxembourg in 1973 with the song “Tu te reconnaîtras,” and then represented France at the 1979 Eurovision in Jerusalem, coming in third place.And come May, all three women will appear at the Tel Aviv Port with six dancers, a team of Israeli drag queens, and more. The evening will be co-hosted by Eurovision expert Alon Amir and Orna Datz – who appeared at the 1991 Eurovision alongside her then-husband, Moshe Datz, with the song “Kan,” and landed in third place. The musical event is slated to begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 at the Tel Aviv Port, and will be followed by the live airing of the second semi-final on a giant screen, and a Eurovision dance party into the wee hours of the night.No tickets to the Eurovision itself?
