With the political map in Israel changing rapidly and unexpectedly since the 2019 elections were announced exactly two weeks ago, The Jerusalem Post's chief political correspondent Gil Hoffman explained the country's political map to a group of foreign journalists Monday. The focus of Hoffman's talk centered on reports that Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit will announce whether or not to indict Netanyahu before the elections and the prime minister's reactions. Hoffman said that no one person or party comes close to threatening Netanyahu in the elections. Nevertheless, he said, Netanyahu will manage to use any decision that the attorney general makes to further bolster his popularity among his voter base.Netanyahu is expected to deliver a "dramatic" politic address, likely touching on the political cases against him, Monday evening.
