Rabbi Reuven Elbaz: I want haredi unity, but there are no takers

Rabbi Reuven Elbaz, who is a member of Moetzet Chachmei HaTorah [Council of Wise Torah Sages] of Shas said in a close discussion that he wants "haredi unity, but nobody listens to me."
Elbaz allegedly also said he suggested the political move of a unified haredi front in the upcoming April elections, but the idea was met with little success among other haredi leaders, Yom LeYom newspaper published on Thursday.
 
Moetzet Chachmei HaTorah is a collective body of Torah sages which directs the actions of the grassroots Mizrahi Shas Party, which is famous for the motto of "returning things to former glory."
Elbaz is known for his leadership in the tshuva [returning to the faith] movement among Jewish Israelis.
Active since 1984, the party reached the height of its power under the leadership of late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.
