As the war in Gaza rages on, tales of extraordinary heroism by our security forces emerge.
Here are some remarkable stories:
Shlomo Boymester, in his 70s, a reserve front-line officer in the Gaza Division during times of emergency: When the conflict began, Shlomo was dispatched to the Re'im base. Armed only with his personal weapon, he encountered terrorists on his way and decisively eliminated them. Despite sustaining shrapnel wounds during the battle, Boymester displayed remarkable resilience by returning to active duty.
In another act of bravery at the Re'im base, a second lieutenant identified only as A., who lacked combat training, thwarted terrorists in multiple incidents while on duty during the initial day of combat.
Not far from there, Lt. Col. Yarden Shukron Yifrah received orders to report to the Urim base, accompanied by her soldiers, after reports surfaced of four terrorists lurking in the vicinity. Shukron Yifrah engaged in fierce combat, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists. Her soldiers took down the fourth.
Confronting terrorists
Haifa District Commander Col. Elad Adri joined the fight against Hamas alongside his subordinates. For hours, he battled alongside his troops, striving to thwart terrorist threats and protect local residents.
Another tale of heroism centers around the late Captain Tal Groshka, 25 years old, from Kfar Saba, a company commander In the 931st Battalion of the Nahal Brigade. Together with eight soldiers from Battalion 931 under his command, he confronted terrorists in Sderot. Groshka sustained a shoulder injury but continued to fight alongside his unit, eliminating the terrorists. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.
Lt. Col. Y., the engineering officer of the Gaza Division, engaged in several encounters with terrorists at the Re'im base. Despite being wounded in the leg by gunfire, he continued to fight tirelessly for hours, determined to eliminate the threat.
Finally, a team from the Caracal Battalion, under the leadership of Col. Or Ben Yehuda, executed a successful operation, apprehending 15 armed terrorists.
Their courageous actions contribute to the ongoing efforts to secure our region.
