Israeli tourist tragically killed in extreme sporting accident in Peru
The Foreign Ministry is working with the Israeli Embassy in Peru to repatriate the body back to Israel.

An Israeli tourist visiting Peru has died in a tragic extreme sporting accident in the city of Cusco in the Andes Mountains, Israeli media reported Monday.The young Israeli man, who has been identified as Orel Guetta, was fatally injured after an apparent malfunction in the cabals of the zip line he was on, sending him crashing into a pole, according to Channel 10.The impact caused serious injury to Guetta, and local emergency workers at the scene pronounced his death.According to Channel 10, the Foreign Ministry was working with the Israeli Embassy in Peru to repatriate his body back to Israel.Guetta, 24, lived in the city of Kfar Saba. He completed his compulsory military service having enlisted in the IDF Home Front Command.Like many young Israelis who finish army service, Guetta celebrated his entry into civilian life by going on a months-long trip to South America. He is survived by his parents and two siblings, one of whom is currently on a trip in Mexico.Last April, 24-year-old Israeli Max Sela from Shoham died in a similar accident in the South American country.Sela, a former commander in the IDF's Engineering Corps, died when he fell from a zip line ramp in the popular tourist destination, Machu Picchu.
