IAF strikes Hamas targets in Gaza in response to continued mortar fire
Hamas continued to fire towards IDF forces on Friday morning.

The Israeli Air Force struck multiple targets in the Gaza Strip in response to the continued mortar assault on IDF forces on Friday morning after a series of incidences in which the IDF and Hamas' forces in the Gaza strip exchanged fire.The IDF was carrying out operational activities in the Gaza border communities when the mortars were fired.No injuries were reported.Following the escalation of tensions in the area surrounding Gaza and the discovery of an additional Hamas tunnel, a meeting of the Security Cabinet of Israel has been called to assembly by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The meeting will also include Chief of General Staff Gadi Eizenkot.Yesterday, the Israeli Air Force attacked four discrete Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip in response to mortar shelling that was launched at IDF forces that began on Wednesday.Additionally, the IDF responded to Hamas' aggressions with tank fire.According to Palestinian sources, a 60-year-old resident of Khan Younis was killed in the IDF air strike and another man was lightly wounded.On Thursday, the second tunnel this month leading into Israeli territory was uncovered. Released for publication only late on Thursday, this latest tunnel was at a depth of 26 meters and appeared to be ready to use for penetration into Israel. It remains to be known if the tunnel itself is new or if it is from the time period of Operation Protective Edge.
