A rocket fired from Gaza exploded in an open area in the Sha'ar Hanegev Council area on Sunday night, triggering warning sirens inSderot and in the surrounding areas.There were no injuries or damage in the attack.Security forces launched a search of the area to locate the rocket's remnants.In other recent events involving the Gaza Strip, last week the Israel Air Force struck a Hamas target in northern Gaza between Sunday and Monday, in response to a cross-border shooting targeting an IDF engineering vehicle on Sunday afternoon from the Strip.The vehicle was struck by multiple rounds fired from Gaza, the army reported. There were no injuries in the incident.It was the second time in recent weeks of cross-border gunfire.Gunfire originating from the Gaza Strip struck an IDF vehicle on Friday afternoon during a military patrol of the border region between Israel and the southern Strip. Soldiers reported hearing gunfire during the patrol, and discovered a bullet lodged in the vehicle.
