Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu didn't order the evacuation of two mobile structures from the West Bank Amona outpost, Channel 2 reported on Thursday night. It explained that the arrival of security forces at the hilltop outside of the Ofra settlement at 4:30 a.m. was the result of miscommunication in Netanyahu’s office. His military secretary Col Avi Blot only informed him of the decision to remove the mobile homes after the security forces were already on their way.Netanyahu has instructed IDF Chief-of-Staff Maj. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot to call in Blot for a dressing down over the miscommunication. The report immediately set pundits buzzing, with those believing that Netanyahu was simply back peddling his way out of a tricky political situation, while others were concerned of the implications of the security failure. Some 23 police officers and dozens of activists were lightly injured during the evacuation. Several hundred right-wing activists attempted to block security forces from removing two mobile homes that settlers had placed at on the hilltop last month. The outpost itself was forcibly evacuated in 2017.
