Syrian opposition: IAF struck Hezbollah, regime targets near Syria-Lebanon border

Sources in the Syrian opposition claimed Tuesday that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) attacked positions and personnel belonging to the Syrian regime and Hezbollah in the area of Qualamoun, on the Syria-Lebanon border.The sources claimed that the Monday attack killed 13 Syrian troops and Hezbollah fighters and left dozens wounded, including four seriously. The report has not been confirmed by Syrian officials.An opposition website claimed that IAF planes circled the skies of Qualamoun, on the outskirts of Damascus, and made four sorties in the area.In a further claim, the source stated that the attack killed eight members of Hezbollah, and another five soldiers of the regime.The Qualamoun area has been a major transit point for Hezbollah fighters and other logistical equipment to and from Syria.On October 31, Syrian media reported Israeli fighter jets penetrated Syrian airspace and attacked numerous Hezbollah targets in the South of Syria.Estimated targets included a weapons convoy destined for Hezbollah fighters traveling through Syria. According to reports, up to a dozen Israeli war planes conducted the mission also in the Qalamoun Mountains region.Israel has reportedly struck Hezbollah in Syria several times over the past year, although the military regularly declines to comment on foreign media reports.
