Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts planted trees and visited Sderot this week during the Hollywood couple's first visit to the Holy Land.
The couple and their two young children, Sacha and Samuel Kai, toured both Christian and Jewish holy sites, met with President Shimon Peres, and visited the indoor recreation center built by the Jewish National Fund for the children and families of Sderot.
According to the JNF, Schreiber, whose most recent roles were in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Zus Bielski in Defiance, said his grandfather had been a strong Zionist who always wanted him to go to Israel. His grandfather died before he could make that happen, so this trip had special meaning for him.
The family's itinerary also included a swim in Lake Kinneret and a trip to the Biblical Zoo.
Watts, of King Kong fame, said of the Sderot center that "as a mother of two young children, I know how important it is to have a great play environment. This place is a great source of fun for these children and the attention to detail is just magnificent. I thank JNF for bringing us here and building this special place."
