Israeli composer and current Los Angeles resident Avner Dorman will offer the North American premiere of his work "Spices, Perfumes, Toxins" with the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Zubin Mehta, on Wednesday. It will be performed at New York's Avery Fischer Hall until March 21.
"Spices, Perfumes, Toxins" is a concerto for a percussion duo and orchestra, and the New York performance will include Israeli percussionists PercaDu. The piece was first performed in Israel in 2006 and has since traveled the world; after his New York engagement, Dorman will travel to Belgrade.
