Collaborations in the fashion world are not new. The concept of 'partnerships' is also not a modern phenomenon - Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dalí were among the first to immerse themselves in mutual action with their surrealist creations back in the 1930s. However, when there is a good connection and behind it a whole machine of handmade production alongside rich experience, the result cannot be anything but successful.
The fashion house Maskit and the iconic swimwear brand Gottex, two pillars of Israeli fashion, announce a historic collaboration with a joint capsule collection. As part of Maskit's relentless innovation (in just the last month and a half, they managed to release an accessible bridal collection and an activewear line) and in honor of 70 years of original and groundbreaking Israeli creation, for the first time in its history and under the leadership of head designer Sharon Tal, a swimwear collection will be presented.
This line combines the world of fabric development and Maskit's unique handcrafts with Gottex's extensive experience in designing and producing flattering, sexy, and feminine cuts. The result is, of course, key pieces to run with in the sands (we prefer to lie down with a cocktail in hand), accessible, and ones that bring Israeli inspirations and essence with an international flavor. In short, this is what happens when authenticity meets contemporaneity.
"The excellent and flattering cuts of Gottex that received a Maskit twist, and the fabrics, along with Maskit's textures and prints, is a combination I could only dream of, and here it is happening," says house designer Sharon Tal.
Is there a particular model you love the most? Or one with an interesting story behind it?"It's very hard for me to decide which model is my favorite. So far, I've tried and worn almost all of them and felt so good in each one, both because of how they fit and flatter the body and because I felt I didn't look like everyone else on the beach. In the collection, we developed many fabrics from scratch. We created them according to our dreams and fantasies, producing the impossible. Thus, fabrics were created that are inspired by woven fabrics when they are actually knitted. Fabrics that at first glance seem printed, but when touched, it's clear they were created this way. And another model where the fabric creates a towel-like texture with raised patterns. The Gottex team and I fought for our dreams and succeeded."
It seems that Maskit is on a roll, entering new territories. Just a week ago, we were introduced to the bridal collection for the first time in the brand's history, at an accessible price, and also an activewear collection last April. Is the desire for refreshment and experimentation in additional fields part of a sort of rebranding of the brand?"Maskit has always been a fashion house and not a clothing store. As such, it has a responsibility over various lifestyle domains, and it must bring those who appreciate Maskit's aesthetics into more areas that surround us. In honor of our 70th anniversary, we decided to expand a wide range of collaborations with brands we love, appreciate their creation, and they complement us with a variety of capabilities.
Unfortunately, these are tough times, and we can't fully rejoice in the creation, but it is important to continue and highlight original Israeli creation because it is part of our strength and resilience as a creative and strong people."
The collection, which includes swimwear, beachwear, and accessories, will be available for purchase on Maskit's and Gottex's official websites and in Maskit stores across the country, including the store in The Jaffa Hotel, where the collaboration was launched.
