Celebrating its eight years of operation, America Burgers introduced the new Slider Burgers special, offering several types of burgers designed primarily for the American taste while attempting to cater to the Israeli audience too. The sliders come in five versions of a very American style burger that can be ordered with toppings, all based on two patties, each weighing 100 grams.
The slider series includes, of course, the classic burger that always works, but it’s worth trying the others, such as the New York Cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, homemade Thousand Island dressing, seared red onions, tomato, pickles, and lettuce; the "Infected Mushroom Slider" with gouda cheese, mushrooms, and homemade truffle mayonnaise; and the "French Burger" slider with blue cheese, onion jam, and mustard mayonnaise.
Additionally, another slider we tasted was the Carne Burger, suitable mainly for the carnivores among us. This burger comes with salsa verde, chili mayonnaise, and shredded beef on top—essentially a type of slow-cooked beef scattered over the two patties and wrapping them. Alongside the slider, you can order fries, which, in my opinion, were quite good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They didn’t have overpowering flavors but were seasoned with a very mild and pleasant saltiness.
Regarding the burger, it was cooked to match the toppings it contained. Perhaps it's a bit mainstream, but I prefer medium-well, so for me, the patties in this slider were done just right. In any case, the salsa verde, used as the main dip in this burger (mainly made from cilantro leaves mixed with chopped onions), was an interesting twist and, to be honest, a really nice combination.
However, what surprised me the most during the visit was the first course, claimed to be the most representative of the place. I went along with the hosts and ordered pickles. What I received was entirely different from what anyone would likely imagine. These were fried pickles with a crispy coating, and at first glance, it was hard to understand that this was the mentioned dish.
The pickles came with chili mayonnaise for dipping and were, for me, a real hit. They were crispy and crunchy to the right extent, and the mayonnaise was an excellent contrast to their tanginess. Later, I learned that this dish is relatively popular in the United States; we’re just probably not American enough to get it.
