11% drop in new car deliveries, 30% increase in electric sales

In June, 24,000 new cars were registered at the Licensing Office, a decrease of about 20% compared to June 2023. This is according to preliminary data from the Licensing Office, which include not only the numbers of car importers, but also the corresponding and tiny imports, and express the entire car market.

In total, about 160,000 new cars were delivered in six months and during the war, a decrease of about 11% compared to the corresponding period last year. But these numbers do not tell the whole story: they include thousands of cars that the car importers were unable to sell within 12 months of their arrival in Israel, and were forced to register them in their name as used cars, which are now sold in zero-kilometer sales, at adequate discounts.

After Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan imposed a trade embargo on Israel, Toyota was the last importer to get a shipment of the Corolla sedan and CH-R models produced there out of the country. In the meantime, this helps make Toyota the market leader in Israel this year, with 3,120 cars in June - including, as mentioned, parallel imports - and 19,420 since the beginning of the year.

Excluding the Turkish-made i10, i20 and Bayon, Hyundai delivered about 2,200 cars this month and 17,850 cars since the beginning of the year. Kia narrows the gaps in third place, with about 2,300 cars this month and 16,300 since the beginning of the year. Skoda fourth, after overtaking BYD in aggregate this month, with 1,850 deliveries and 10,800 aggregate, compared to BYD's 1,130 and 10,200 electrics, respectively.

The electric Chinese MG also stood out this month, with 1,900 deliveries, but some of them were "gyols", registration of new and old vehicles in the name of the importer. MG also comes in ninth in the annual delivery table, with 5,650 cars.

And so despite a decrease in vehicle deliveries, the increase in electric deliveries continues, which have maintained a market share of 25% since the beginning of the year. Among the new electric Chinese brands, Zikr delivered 1,455 units, Xpeng 1,150, Ceres about 1,000 and Smart (which Mercedes still owns 50% of its shares) about 700. In the luxury market, Mercedes continues to lead (3,020 since the beginning of the year), ahead of BMW (2,200), Audi (1,600), Lexus (1,300) and Volvo (990). In the super luxury market, Masera Porsche delivered 131 cars, Maserati 18, Bentley 7, Ferrari 6 and Lamborghini 5 cars.
