The design market is a dynamic market, which is affected by social, economic and fashion changes. The parallel between the worlds of design and fashion, takes place regularly over the years, and over time becomes more and more tight. The world of fashion, which was underwritten by capsule collections that gave, and continue to give even today, a platform for top designers alongside young designers, also swept the world of design to act in a similar way.

International brands such as Cassina, Kartel and others present collections designed by international super designers, such as Patricia Urquiola, the Bourlac brothers, or sanitation brands such as Hans Groy who always present unique collections by designers such as Antonio Chitori, Philippe Starck and others. Even in Israel, this trend is taking root in the worlds of design. Although not exactly like in the international arena, there are collaborations in which designers and architects design a product that bears their name, or in other cases, the company produces a detail or a product designated for them for a specific project. In the field of doors, Rav Bariach opened a window to this world and collaborates on a regular basis with designers and architects who deserve to leave a mark. The review that I bring to you here allows you to gain a perspective on the trends in the field of doors and their effect on the door market and on the adjustments made by Rav Bariach, on a regular basis, as someone who listens to murmurs and is aware of the various changes.

Capsule collections

Rav Bariach who sees and promotes the connection between fashion and design, constantly combines the two worlds. The review will emphasize the connections between the worlds. At the same time, there is great openness in the company to translate architectural requirements into finished products. Just recently, a unique window frame was designed for the office of the architect and interior designer Dana Oberzon, in the luxury project of Azorim EXCHANGE. The product, developed especially at the request of the architects, is a type of haute couture interior doors.

Over the years, we are very careful to cooperate with architects and interior designers, whom we involve in the design and planning of the company's door collections. As part of the involvement, once in a while a collection is launched that is the result of collaboration with the architects, as part of which a design and planning competition is held, in which local architects and interior designers participate. The capsule collection developed in collaboration with the designers, for example, was one of our most prominent and successful collaborations. At the beginning of every process for planning a collection that combines the audience of designers and interior designers, we issue a call and manage the competition in a way that combines the opinion of the public and the opinion of expert judges in the fields of design - the final product combines creativity and groundbreaking thinking, alongside an emphasis on practical and functional elements.

Wide and high openings

The trends in the field of doors combine a minimalist look with wide dimensions - the consumer is looking for size and space. In addition, the wide openings create the appearance of a space that is larger than its dimensions, which is an illusion that modern architecture tries to create, especially when it comes to urban apartments that impose size constraints - against this background, the demand for wide and tall doors is constantly increasing. A tall door creates a sense of size, and the width intensifies the exact same feeling. Even though the accepted standard even today, for interior doors, is a height of 2.05 m, you can notice, especially in the central area, that the rising demand for a height of 2.2 and 2.4 m has made these dimensions a kind of new standard that the market is asking for today.

The emphasis on height is becoming more and more requested, as well as doors, which, in addition to height, are designed to be particularly wide, which are often chosen when planning the master bedroom or as an entrance to work rooms when it comes to entrance doors, especially in detached houses, in apartments in boutique buildings, or buildings that wish to create technical specifications with prestigious characteristics , the division of the key has changed - the conventional division of 1/3 and 2/3 is replaced by a wide key with one wide wing, or two wings with the same division.

Zero-line doors, which were a trend in themselves in recent years, have also entered a certain standardization and today are not only for the rich, but part of collections that are suitable for everyone. The effect of the wide dimensions did not escape these doors and today you can see a trend of zero-line doors from floor to ceiling at any desired height. The design of the unique door can be done exclusively in our architects' department, in the Design Center. When translating this trend into practice, it is important to understand that the decision on the dimensions of the door must be made already at the planning stage. Zero line doors and doors of special dimensions require prior preparation of the opening.

colorfulness

The connection to nature is part of a much broader trend, which seeks to connect us, among other things, to the nature around us, advocating the use of basic raw materials, in their raw and unprocessed appearance. The world of color draws inspiration from the trend and refers to vegetation, sand, soil and grain, as the basis for the different color collections.

The color is one of the first elements that are affected by the trends and it allows for quick adjustments. You can see the many adjustments in the new fan that we launched for the front doors, which incorporated colors that illustrate the connection to nature, including sage green, peaks green, stone, oats, linen gray, sand, greige and more. Adding a shade to the shade fan of the front doors is a long process that takes nine months and sometimes even a year. Our choice as a company, to enter the development process despite it being lengthy, is due to the importance we see in the alignment we seek to create with the trends dictated in the world in general and the design market in particular.

The interior doors can be painted in any desired shade, so they do not have a dedicated fan like the entrance doors. Another trend that I would like to refine is the use of the white shade. We are seeing a renewed increase in the use of white, and I foresee a strengthening of this trend. The handles will also turn white, thus completing a flawless white look. The classic color games between black and white will continue to deepen - these are games of contrast that make the product pop - a black door against a black wall, or black handles that look like jewelry on a white door.

The handle as a jewel

Rav Bariach launched a collection of handles that look like jewelry about two years ago. The great success of the collection matched the trend at the time, which emphasized the connection between design and fashion, and since then it has only grown stronger. We live in a time with a mindset where anything is possible. If we used to wear checks separately and stripes separately, then between the VOUGE columns we come across outfits that combine the two patterns together, as well as colors that may have been considered a BIG NO NO in the past and today receive a stage and respect.

The legitimacy that the combinations received also flowed into the fields of home design, mainly in the fields of ceramics and textiles. There are not many options in doors, but the awareness of the desire to add and combine allows you to stand out through decorations, gold stripes, the combination of handles with a rich design, placing a black door on a white wall, and more, thereby emphasizing connections and combinations that create interest. The use of handles allows you to connect with the trend and allows you to change every few years, when the trend changes.Along with the interior handles that look like exquisite jewelry, I can say that there is a growing demand for entrance doors with pull handles - more and more customers are asking for an elongated handle or a handle in the form of a semicircle, which allows the door to be opened by pulling. The question of whether LESS IS MORE or ADDING MORE is a fundamental and important question that should be asked as part of building the design vision, with the aim of making the choices more precise and creating a complete and tight look.

Smart doors

Rav Bariach recognized the need for a smart door more than five years ago, when the product was purchased mainly by the first adopters. Today, one can clearly see the justification for such a move - the new construction incorporates the smart doors as an almost integral part of the technical details. The consumer has gotten used to turning on the boiler and the air conditioner from the car and based on that state of mind he also locks and unlocks the door of the house remotely, whether it is for himself or for the cleaner, the child or the courier who arrived with an expensive shipment that requires storage inside the house.
