The European Parliament plans to approve a committee to investigate the use of Israeli cybersecurity company NSO Group's Pegasus spyware in the European Union, the Global Network for Independent Journalism said in a tweet on Wednesday.
"Investigations so far by Hungarian authorities have been inadequate. It is vital this investigation leads to far greater transparency," the tweet added.
According to Politico, Dutch MEP Sophie in 't Veld, whose political organization Renew Europe previously called for Parliament to open an investigation into the use of the Pegasus program, said on Wednesday that a majority of the governing body supports the proposal.
