A Beit Shemesh resident in his 40s was seriously injured in a stabbing on Sunday night, Israel Police said.
The man, who was stabbed in his upper body, was treated by Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics before being taken to Hadassah-University Medical Center, in Jerusalem's Ein Keren, for further treatment. His condition is considered stable, MDA said.
Police officers are on the scene to collect evidence. Following a short search, police arrested a southern Israel resident in his 20s. According to police, the incident is of a criminal background rather than a terror attack.
