IDF soldier injured in West Bank shooting as riots erupt across Israel

Among the cities where riots broke out were Jerusalem, Umm el-Fahm and Sakhnin.

An IDF soldier was injured in a shooting attack on Thursday evening near Jerusalem, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit. 

The incident took place at Kikar Adam, an interchange in the West Bank that connects Highway 60 to Route 437.

United Hatzalah volunteers treated the man at the scene, according to a Halzalah statement. 

United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Reuven Marzayev who lives nearby and was one of the first responders at the scene said: "When I arrived I found the young man suffering from multiple wounds to his upper body. Together with medical teams from the IDF, I treated the man for his injuries at the scene, after which, he was transported via ambulance to a hospital in Jerusalem in light condition." 

Friday morning arrests 

Police arrested four minors and one adult on Friday morning on suspicion of participating in riots in the northern city of Baka al-Gharbiya, according to the Israel Police Spokesperson's Unit. Earlier the previous evening, rioters threw stones at police. 

Police seized fireworks, explosives and a pellet gun from the five arrested on Friday morning. 

Thursday evening riots

Riots and violent clashes erupted across Arab cities in Israel late on Thursday evening, according to Hebrew language media.

Among the cities were riots broke out were Jerusalem, Umm el-Fahm and Sakhnin.

Two suspects were arrested by the police in Umm el-Fahm, after they threw stones at police forces and burned tires. Dozens of rioters are throwing stones and burning tires, while police forces are dispersing them, according to the Israel Police Spokesperson's Unit.

Also on Thursday night, people threw fireworks, stones and Molotov cocktails at Jewish homes in Abu-Tor, according to Israel police. Border Police in the area shot one of the suspects. The remaining suspects fled the scene. Earlier that evening, the police arrested three people in Abu Tor, two who fired fireworks at police and one who attempted to interfere in the arrest.

Twelve people were arrested for disturbance of the peace in Nazareth, Sakhnin and Kafr Manda on Thursday evening as well. According to Israel police, the suspects set objects on fire, threw stones and fireworks and attempted to block roads.
