China's defense minister Li Shangfu held formal talks with Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday and both agreed to continue close high-level communications, as well as improve the mechanism for interactions between the two militaries.
During the meeting in Moscow, the two sides reaffirmed their support for each other in safeguarding their core interests, and resolutely opposed interference in internal affairs by external forces, according to a statement posted on China's defense ministry website.
