A Chechen Akhmat battalion had been deployed to the Belgorod region to defend it from Ukrainian infiltration and assaults, Chechen official Adam Delimkhanov said on Telegram on Tuesday.
Delimkhanov said that Chechen special forces had accumulated a great deal of combat experience and would be able to protect the region, which in late May saw a cross-border attack allegedly by Russian rebel groups aligned with Ukraine.
