A patient at a rehabilitation center in Kiryat Tivon was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after a series of attempted assaults on patients and staff at the location, according to Israeli police.
The patient, a 25-year-old resident at the treatment center, allegedly made continuous efforts to cause discomfort and distress to staff members of the facility as well as other staff members, according to reports by Israeli media. He allegedly tried to attack others on multiple occasions with knives, sticks, and stones.
Following up on an open investigation
Before his arrest, police opened an investigation at the end of July in response to complaints of a patient at a rehabilitation center in Kiryat Tivon who was sexually harassing patients and others at the center. The patient allegedly attempted to attack patients and staff with a knife and made several threats.
He had also allegedly chased others with a pair of scissors on multiple occasions.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident and the patient is being held in detention.
If a claim filed by the Haifa District Attorney's Office should be accepted, his detention will continue until after legal proceedings are complete.
