Israel Police are investigating the murder of 41-year-old Talya Khatib, who was shot dead by four assassins who broke into her Haifa home on Thursday.
According to initial police reports, the four suspects' original intended target was the Haifa woman's partner, who arrived at the scene shortly after she was shot along with emergency medical services. The partner was detained and interrogated by police, they added.
Israel Police officers who arrived at the scene collected evidence from the scene and began a scan of the area in search of the four suspects, who were quick to flee the murder scene.
"When we entered the apartment, we saw a woman lying lifeless on the ground with serious gun wounds. We were forced to determine her death on the scene," Magen David Adom paramedic Avi Abedi said.
According to new details that emerged on Thursday evening, Khatib had long complained to police about incidents of domestic violence by her partner and other members of her family.
