President Isaac Herzog met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday in the midst of Israel's ongoing war with Hamas.
According to a US State Department statement, Blinken once again affirmed the US's support for Israel’s right to defend itself against the terrorism it faces from Hamas. Additionally, the secretary of state reiterated that the US was committed to supplying Israel with the assistance it needs to protect its citizens.
Further, the two spoke about the coordinated efforts between Israel and the US to safeguard Israeli citizens and secure the release of the hostages in captivity by Hamas.
Blinken also met with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for a second time this week, Israeli media reported later on Monday.
"We will prevail because the people of Israel must prevail," Gallant said during the meeting. "We will not cease the fight until we achieve our goals and complete the mission that the State of Israel is committed to. Our top priority, above all else, is our commitment to our citizens and our soldiers on both sides of the border. We will reach every place and emerge victorious in this war."
