Lawyer arrested for smuggling drugs to client in prison

A lawyer was caught by the Israel Prison Service's (IPS) intelligence operatives while attempting to smuggle suspected narcotics into Rimonim, a maximum-security prison in central Israel, according to a statement from the IPS.

The arrest occurred during the lawyer's scheduled visit with his client on October 29. He was seen transferring packages concealed in his shoes and other hidden parts of his attire to the inmate, prompting immediate action from the authorities.

A subsequent search of the lawyer's vehicle revealed an additional quarter kilogram of the same material.

The lawyer was detained at the scene and will face the full legal repercussions of his actions.
