US, Germany were having early discussions about Navalny swap when he died-Western official

The United States and Germany were having early discussions about a potential prisoner swap with Russia that would involve Russian opposition leader Alexei Nalvany when he died, a Western official familiar with the discussions told Reuters on Monday.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said discussions had been in the early phases when Navalny died on Feb. 16 at a Russian penal colony in the Arctic.
