Heavy barrage in North, IDF rocket interceptor causes false alarm

Some 50 launches had crossed into Israeli territory from Lebanon to the area of the Golan Heights, the military said.

Numerous rocket alerts sounded in various localities in northern Israel on Tuesday.  

The military later said some 50 launches had crossed into Israeli territory from Lebanon into the area of the Golan Heights. Several launches were intercepted, while others fell in open areas. 

No injuries were reported.

The Upper Galilee Regional Council stated that as a result of the falls, fires had erupted in the area. Firefighters of the Fire and Rescue Authority were operating to extinguish them. 

Alert sounds in Haifa

Additionally, a rocket siren sounded in the Haifa Bay area on Tuesday morning.

The military later stated that alerts had sounded following a false identification. The sirens had been activated after an interceptor had been launched for fear of shrapnel from the interceptor falling. The IDF added that the incident was being investigated.
