The terrorist responsible for the shooting that resulted in the killing of a 12-year-old boy at the El-Khader Junction in Gush Etzion on Wednesday night surrendered to to security forces on Thursday.
The boy who was murdered in the attack was named as Yehoshua Aharon Tuvia.
Magen David Adom (MDA) said they evacuated Tuvia to the hospital in critical condition before he was pronounced dead. A 40-year-old woman with gunshot wounds was also evacuated from the scene. Two additional people had minor wounds from broken glass.
The terrorist who committed the attack surrendered to security forces on Thursday morning, Israel's military said.
It added that the terrorist turned himself in following a joint manhunt search of him throughout the night conducted by the IDF, Israel Police, and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
Arriving at the scene
MDA paramedic Elhai Sofer and senior MDA medic Yaakov Greenwald described the events that occurred when arriving at the scene.
"We quickly arrived at the scene and saw the bus with passengers. We did a quick scan and saw a 12-year-old boy with gunshot wounds to his upper body. We gave him life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him in an MDA intensive care ambulance to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, continuing treatment while we fought for his life."
"A 40-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the limbs," the medic added. "She was fully conscious, her condition was classified as moderate, and she was evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Two people were evacuated from the scene in minor conditions from broken glass. Additional MDA medics are now providing medical treatment to several panic victims."
Hours after the attack took place, Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital released a statement that Tuvia succumbed to his wounds.
"Unfortunately, after intensive and prolonged resuscitation efforts, the team was forced to pronounce the death of the child who was evacuated from the attack in critical condition to the trauma unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem. Our hearts go out to the family at this difficult time," the hospital said.
