Beinisch slams conduct of negotiations over lawyers' strike

Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch on Wednesday slammed the conduct of the Finance Ministry regarding the lawyers' strike and said that "this is not the way to manage negotiations," reported Israel Radio.
During hearings on two petitions concerning the lawyers' strike, Beinisch asked why the Treasury did not contact the labor court and and why it did not agree to conduct negotiations under its auspices, as is customary for other labor unions.
Beinisch said the Treasury had no explanation for deviating from the standard procedure, and criticized the government's representative in the negotiations, saying, "This is not how we should advance, and the destruction that has been caused [by the lawyers' strike] is terrible."
