A bill to help those whose spouses are on reserve duty was approved by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation on Sunday. The proposal by MK Eyal Ben-Reuven (Zionist Union) would allow people to leave work an hour early when their spouses are on emergency reserve duty. While reservists are legally protected from being fired for spending time on duty, and reimbursed for travel fees and days of work missed, their families have not received any legislative aid until now, Ben-Reuven explained.“These spouses are mostly mothers left on the home front, who are trying to continue their routine lives as best as they can, while their husbands are at the front,” he said. “To do so, they end up missing days or parts of days of work, because reserve duty in times of emergency happen without advance warning, and without the ability to prepare ahead of time, and without knowing when it’ll end.”90-year-old Ramat Gan man chokes on doughnut, in critical condition
