An area of low pressure over the western Atlantic Ocean a few hundred miles (km) northeast of the Bahamas has a 30 percent chance of developing into a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the US National Hurricane Center said on Wednesday.
A tropical or subtropical cyclone could form on Friday or Saturday, the Miami-based weather forecaster said
The low is forecast to move slowly west-northwestward or northwestward and approach the southeastern United States over the weekend, the NHC added.
