Court rejects petition to lighten security checks for Jews at Temple Mount

The High Court of Justice rejected a petition filed by the heads of the Jewish Power Party, who criticized the Mugrabi Gate inspection procedures used for the entry of non-Muslim Israeli citizens and tourists heading to the Temple Mount compound, especially the use of magnetometers during inspections.
Only at the checkpoint where Jews enter the Temple Mount are there metal detectors, the petition claimed. This approach was claimed to discriminate against Jews and infringed on their right to equality.
The explanation for the decision to reject the petition was that the Court was convinced that the different inspection methods were considered by the police force and were designed for maintaining security and ensuring order during visits to the compound.
"We found no reason to intervene," the court's decision stated.
