Heavy explosions rocked areas in the Deir al-Zor region of eastern Syria on Friday night, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
The area is controlled by pro-Iran Shiite militias, and was the target of airstrikes earlier this week (which were allegedly carried out by Israel) in which up to 40 people had died, according to local reports.
