The Foreign Ministry's appointments committee announced on Thursday a number of high-level ambassadorial appointments. Vice director-general Jeremy Issacharoff will be the next ambassador in Berlin; deputy director-general for Asia and the Pacific Mark Sofer will be going to Canberra,; deputy director-general for economic Affairs Yaffa Ben-Ari is headed to Tokyo; and Eyal Propper, currently the deputy head of the ministry's strategic affairs division, will become Israel's consul-general in Shanghai. The appointments will now go to the cabinet for final approval, a procedure that is generally only a formality.
