Former head of Beersheba police department fired for sexual misconduct

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan on Wednesday fired a former head of the Beersheba police department following a Justice Ministry investigation that revealed he had sexual relations with female subordinates.
During the investigation, Commander Moshe Ivgy also confessed that he made executive decisions regarding the employment of those same women, representing a conflict of interest.
The decision to fire Ivgy was made following a recommendation by National Police Commissioner Inspector General Roni Alsheich.
Ivgy joins a series of police commanders – including several with the rank of Deputy Commissioner – who have been fired or forced to resign in recent years due to sexual misconduct investigations.
Ivgy shares his name with famous Israeli actor Moshe Ivgy, who just this month made headlines when he was the subject of sexual harassment and abuse allegations by a series of Israeli actresses who worked with him. He has denied the allegations.
