Defense Minister Benny Gantz congratulated the new US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Friday, noting the retired general is "a brave and honest fighter" who understands "Israeli security needs" as well as the Middle East.
"I congratulate my friend, General Lloyd Austin, for his nomination as US Secretary of Defense," Gantz said. The two men enjoy a work relationship which began when they were in uniform, Gantz added.
