German FM Westerwelle: Iran to be judged by deeds not words

Ahead of Iranian President-Elect Hassan Rouhani's swearing in this weekend, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle on Friday expressed his hope that the Islamic Republic and the West could progress talks over the latter's nuclear program, AFP reported.
The German diplomat vowed that the West would "seek dialogue with the new [Iranian] government," but said political pressure on Iran would continue through sanction "for as long as we cannot be sure that Iran has renounced its atomic weapons program," AFP quoted him as saying.
AFP cited Westerwelle as stating to the German media that the Islamic Republic's "deeds not words" were what would be considered.
